Hanwood Estate Chardonnay 2008
	Previously gold medal winner at the Chardonnay Du Monde France! From the up and coming McWilliams vineyards on the Riverina. This region, and Hanwood in particular, was an area that John James McWilliam, son of founder Samuel McWilliam, had identified early in the twentieth century as having the potential to service the growing domestic and export wine markets. McWilliam’s Hanwood Chardonnay is one of the most consistently awarded white wines at its price point and arguably the most popular and approachable Chardonnay on the domestic market Riverina
	Each $9.99 Dozen $119.88	"Plant a six-inch nail in this soil, water it and in a year you will have a crowbar!" So said John James McWilliam when he arrived at Hanwood in 1913. The development of the Riverina region as a major wine producing area was primarily due to the foresight of the McWilliam family. The rich, fertile soils and warm temperatures make the Riverina ideally suited to viticulture. Grapes for the Hanwood Chardonnay were fermented over two to three weeks, half the components in tank to retain the vital expressions of fruit, the remaining portion under a selection of oak. Hanwood was then held on lees and treated to wood maturation for nine months before being assembled, stabilised and filtered. Approx 12.5%
	Colour is a pale straw. Lifted melon and grapefruit bouquet with the subtle cashew and vanilla nuances of gently integrated oak. Soft and generous, fresh varietal stonefruit, citrus and melon flavours, well supported by creamy white chocolate oak and the complexity of mealy nut. A well structured forward drinking wine, intense and ripe, with refreshing textures and an impressive finish. A solidly fruit focused, complex Shiraz Viognier, with a tot of Durif providing Je Ne Sais Quoi. Dry, arid conditions prevailed around southeast Australia's winegrowing regions, yet below average temperatures were experienced – very similar to the conditions of the classic 2002 vintage. The result was a refined and delicately flavoured Shiraz Viognier, with amazing depth of flavour and virility. 27.6% Hilltops, 25.7% Limestone Coast, 12.9% Heathcote, 11.4% Orange, 7.8% Riverina, 6.1% Barossa Valley, 3.1% Eden Valley, 3.1% Fleurieu, 2.3% Yarra Valley

McWilliams Hanwood Amontillado Sherry

Mature and medium dry, this fine aged Amontillado is a blend of dry, sweet and traditional flor sherry components, with an average age of three years. It has been assembled from components of four neutral grape varieties including Palomino. Fruit is sourced entirely from long-term contracted growers in the Riverina. The Flor component is made using traditional Spanish methods, and is stored in old oak barrels (between five and forty years old) following innoculation with a film-forming yeast for a period of eighteen months

The fruit, picked extremely ripe to maintain the sweetness of the style, is sourced entirely from McWilliam’s vineyards in the Riverina wine region in New South Wales. The warm and dry conditions in the Riverina are ideal for fortifieds, enabling all the varieties to ripen superbly and produce great richness of flavour. This fine aged Tawny is made from Shiraz and Mataro, with a small proportion of Grenache fruit, blended to an average age of five years. The fruit, picked late in harvest to maintain the sweetness of the style, is sourced entirely from the Riverina wine region in New South Wales. A large proportion of the fruit is sourced from McWilliam’s own estate vineyards, with the remainder from very long-term contracted growers

McWilliams Hanwood Oloroso Sherry

A rich and delicious effort, a mature, fully aromatic sherry. This fine aged Oloroso is a blend of sweet and traditional flor sherry components, with an average age of four to five years. The sweeter sherry portion is made by fermenting the free-run juices with a small percentage of the pressings. The fortification takes place gradually during the ferments, by the addition of no more than two per cent of a high quality neutral spirit at any one time, permitting the winemakers to arrest fermentation at precisely the desired level of sweetness

McWilliams Hanwood Port 10 Year Old

Taking pride of place in the pantheon of great Australian fortifieds, Hanwood is an exceptionally smooth and mellow, rich Tawny Port. An assembly of luscious wines which have been ageing in small oak cask for up to sixty years. Great care is taken at the blending stage to achieve an average age of ten years as opposed to five, which is the practice for most other Ports. The extra time spent in oak, combined with the traditional techniques perfected by McWilliam's since 1877, are what makes Hanwood such a very special Fine Old Port
