A bottle of good wine can help solve many problems, such were the thoughts of Norm Doole and Drew Dowie as they watched the sun rise after enduring a cold, all-night session harvesting some of their fruit from the difficult 1995 vintage
Seeing their grapes being trucked away to other wineries and frustrated at not being in control of their fruit from that point, the two opened a bottle of red wine over breakfast and decided then to form a partnership, the purpose of which was to take charge of all aspects of growing grapes, making, bottling and selling their own wine. The first wines were only produced in 1994, but Saint Clair Family Estate reputation as one of New Zealand’s leading wine companies with an exceptional quality record is growing fast
Saint Clair Family Estate is owned by Neal and Judy Ibbotson, viticulture pioneers in Marlborough since 1978. Grapes were originally supplied to local wine companies; however a desire to extend the quality achieved in the vineyard through to the finished wine led to the establishment of Saint Clair Estate Wines. Saint Clair’s viticulture philosophy for quality grapes is simple. Optimum flavour is achieved by significantly reducing vine stress; obtaining uniformity in vine growth, crop level and ripening; good light exposure, no disease, harvesting at the right time for maximising flavours and adjusting management for seasonal variations. Semillon from Australia’s Hunter Valley meets Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand's Marlborough, to create a blend offering the best of both worlds, a perfectly balanced wine with an appropriate name
Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc are considered a perfect match because one compliments the other, bringing all the desired flavours and complexity of a great wine together. Semillon adds the texture, body and richness to Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc offers the structure, raciness and backbone to Semillon. A cross-Tasman marriage of components, blended to create a wine offering the best of both worlds, makes a perfectly balanced drop with an appropriate name – See Saw. See Saw»

The Oatley Wines story is of the legendary Oatley family themselves, supported by an outstanding group of extended family and friends
The Oatleys have played an important part in the Australian wine industry since their first vintage at Rosemount Estate in 1974. Those wines were the predecessors of many hundreds of highly awarded and recognised bottlings of fine Australian wine under the Oatley family direction. With the 2001 merger of Rosemount to Southcorp Wines and the subsequent sale of Southcorp to Foster’s in 2005, the Oatleys decided to re-enter the wine business. Logically they followed their calling back to the vineyard and established Oatley Wines, quickly gathering a team of extended family and friends to do the job. Oatley»

Nugan Estate is a story of inspiration about a premium producer of estate grown wine based in Griffith New South Wales
The Nugan Group was founded in 1940 when a young Alfredo Nugan emigrated from Spain with his family to start a small fruit and vegetable packing operation in Griffith, New South Wales. Nugan's daughter in-law Michelle became responsible for the Group’s renaissance into one of Australia’s most successful agricultural enterprises. Looking beyond Australia’s shores, Nugan became the largest exporter of niche juice products to Asia in the Southern Hemisphere with production in excess of 70,000 tonne per annum. Nugan Estate»
Sebastiano Brini spoke no English when he arrived in McLaren Vale from Italy in 1950 with a suitcase and five pounds in his pocket
Like many European immigrants of this time he toiled hard to establish a better life in his new homeland. He worked as a labourer in local vineyards and by 1953 had saved enough money to purchase a property in Blewitt Springs. At the time, two thirds of the property was used to run dairy cows and the other third had established grapevines (Shiraz, Grenache and Mataro), planted by returned serviceman in the late 1940's as part of a soldier settlement scheme. Brini Estate»
Goldwater Estate was established by Kim and Jeanette Goldwater in 1978 when they pioneered winegrowing on Waiheke Island with the planting of the first vinifera vineyard
The Goldwater philosophy is simple - great wine is born in the vineyard. Goldwater combines old world traditional wine making techniques with modern day technology to achieve outstanding and memorable hand-crafted wines. The success of Goldwater wines is demonstrated by the fact that there are now more than thirty vineyards on Waiheke Island. Since 1843, with unique single-mindedness and sense of purpose, the Krug family has proudly cultivated the markedly individual character of their exceptional champagne
Krug’s founder, Johann-Joseph Krug, was a maverick who turned his back on a comfortable position in an established champagne house to strike out on his own. He had not only the vision, but also the talent, to achieve his ambition of creating a champagne with a taste quite unlike any other. Theirs is a living legend, a certain idea of excellence that has been quietly redefined through six generations without a break. Subsequent generations of the Krug family not merely honoured his achievement, but amplified it, bringing genuine pride and passion to their craft. Krug»

Central Otago is New Zealand's youngest and most dynamic wine region. Quartz Reef's first release was in 1998, and in this short period the estate has already gained international recognition.
