Kaesler WOMS Shiraz Cabernet 2006
Weapons of Mass Seduction is best suited to those who prefer the more savoury styles in wine. A classic dry red, which is the quintessential Australian blend of Shiraz and Cabernet, WOMS is a complex and rich Barossa Cuvée, that's tightly woven into a tapestry of well defined oak. The third release, WOMS is only ever produced in years of exceptional quality, it can also be relied upon to age well. "Old vine cuvee, it coats the glass and has an enticing fragrance of smoke, scorched earth, tar, and black currants!" -eRobertparker.com

From estate grown fruit, Cabernet (36% ) vines planted 1970 to 1985, and Shiraz (64%) planted in 1961. WOMS is transferred into static fermenters and pumped over twice per day. The wine was pressed later than normal to capitalise on great tasting tannin, then transferred to 90% new Burgundian barriques, and 10% second and third fill, where it completed its malolactic. It was then racked and returned to barrel. The wine was topped regularly with one racking at the twelve month stage. The total maturation under oak was for eighteen months. WOMS is bottled without any fining or filtration. Winemaker Reid Bosward and his team are said to be very happy with this outstanding wine. Alcohol 15.5%
Purple and crimson with a dense centre and a youthful edge. A massive wine in the traditional Barossa Shiraz Cabernet style, aromas of blackberries, mulberries and canned cherries with hints of chary oak. Tastes of black cherries, vanilla, some saddle leather characters on the palate. The fruit is actually quite solid but repressed by oak and tannin at the moment, WOMS ofers layer upon layer of brooding, briary fruit confronted by stunning oak and thick blocks of chocolatey tannin. Oak will lay down with some time in the cellar, fruit will prevail. Good viscosity, the 2006 WOMS has great ageing potential and is expected to improve for up to ten years. Flavours and oak will integrate over time to produce an elegant, savoury wine
