Langtons Distinguished Classification. A refined fruit driven wine with barrel ferment complexity and sublime minerality. Petaluma harvests Chardonnay from seven distinguished sites in the Piccadilly Valley, blessed by a cool, slow ripening climate with growing conditions very similar to Burgundy. Soils are free draining, aerobic red over Cambrian shales. These splendid sites are closely spaced with vertical canopies and are fastidiously managed through shoot and fruit thinning to achieve very modest crop levels of five or seven tonnes per hectare.

Peter Lehmann's story with Noble Semilon goes back many years when Andrew Wigan had the good fortune of experiencing vintage within the vineyards at Chateau d'Yquem, home to the greatest sweet white table wine in the world. What he had assumed to be spoilage, was in fact Botrytis Cinerea. Traditionally, botrytis affected wines are the most complex and longest lived of all sweet styles. The Barossa Valley is an ideal region for late harvest given the quality of local Semillon and the warm conditions that continue well into vintage.

Peter Lehmann named Margaret after his wife, who is also an enthusiast of Semillon and outspoken advocate of all good things Barossa. Small amounts are stored and matured at Lehmann's Tanunda Cellars for the discerning wine lover who appreciates the delicious, rich, full flavoured characters of bottle aged Semillon. Margaret is vinified from the very best Semillon of vintage. Stylish when young, these wines mature slowly in the bottle, developing characteristic honey on the palate while still retaining their tight, firm, reserved structure.

For Peter Seppelt Wines, traditions continue. The Seppelt family has been making wine since the middle of the 19th century, present day Peter Seppelt is the fifth generation to preserve the heritage. In more recent times, Karl, Lotte and Peter came across 120 hectares of winegrowing Terra Prima in the Barossa. That was twenty five years ago, the vines have fully matured, and it has come to be known as Grand Cru Estate. A very dry fortified aperitif wine with a developed intense aged yeast character, and long lasting finish.
