Rex Watson Coonawarra Cabernet 2007

The largest independent grape grower in the Coonawarra, Rex Watson is driven by a vision and passion to produce the highest quality reds, to be savoured at every occasion. Watson's Cabernet is a project very close to heart and it has claimed many pivotal accolades throghout the vintages. A vigorous wine that brims with cassis, blackberry and fine, subdued oak.

After selling his highly successful industrial services business to Brambles, Rex Watson decided to build on the core of a small 10-ha Coonawarra vineyard. Today, a total of three Rex Watson vineyards are all situated in the heart of Coonawarra Terra Rosa where the vines benefit not only from the great soils but also from the cooling sea breezes and gentler growing conditions. They have been developed using the latest technology to yield intense and concentrated fruit for today's discerning Cabernet enthusiast. A long ferment with up to fourteen days on skins followed by a luxuriant maturation under a combination of French and American oaks has resulted in a true Coonawarra classic. Approx 14.0%

Very dark red with deep purple hue. Concentrated cassis with blackberry and currant aromas. This full bodied red offers well integrated oak, intense cassis flavours with hints of liquorice and chocolate. An approachable and amply structured Coonawarra to enjoy with meaty pasta, steaks and game.
