Wines by Soul Growers

Soul Growers Provident Shiraz 2010
Soul Growers is the work of four good mates, together they represent eighty years of combined industry experience, applying the knowledge and skill generously shared by some of the Barossa's winemaking legends. Soul Growers endeavour to create wines which are true to the Barossa, the emphasis being on pure and discernible varietal character and regional charm. A mere thousand cases of Provident Shiraz are passionately small batch vinified to express the integrity of the land, endowments of vintage and virtues of mateship, the very soul of Barossa.

Soul Growers source fruit across the Barossa Valley floor, out to the high country of eastern Eden Valley ranges, from vineyards which are living history. Seppeltsfield and Tanunda, Krondorf and Langmeil Roads, Kalimna Rd and Nuriootpa all make contributions. The work is completely manual, traditional techniques with minimal handling. The fruit is open fermented in small batches keeping every parcel separate. Gentle basket pressings extract the juices and the wines are unfiltered and unfined. Provident is an assemblage of Shiraz from thirteen vineyards, matured two years in a selection of well seasoned, prior use American oak hogsheads.
Bright, deep red colour. Generous bouquet of chocolate, plum notes and blueberry with freshly ground pepper and hints of toasty cocoa oak. Ripe palate with prominent plum, dark cherry and blackberry flavours supported by toasty oak and gracious, mouth filling tannins. Layers of flavour you would expect from grand Barossa Shiraz, a wine of great depth, richness and complexity.
