Step Rd First Step Sparkling

Established 1985, the Step Rd wineworks are fortuitously positioned to collate harvests of the finest grapes from local vineyards at Langhorne Creek and splendid sites within Adelaide Hills. Sparkling wines are something that Step Rd do particularly well. They have appropriated parcels which can display the requisite qualities of ripeness, acid balance and excellent varietal definition, to be fashioned into a generously flavoured, forward drinking effervescent wine with lively melon, stonefruit and citrus characters, freshness and refined, yeasty complexity.

Step Rd was founded with dual goals, make the highest quality wine while taking a lead as guardians of the environment. The philosophy is to act as caretaker of the land, thereby realizing the full potential of the vineyard to yield the finest fruit. Everything about the operation is designed and managed to be mindful of the health and welfare of staff and the environment. Liquid waste is purified and recycled as irrigation. Solid waste of skins, stalks and seeds are mulched and returned to the vineyard to enhance and improve the soil. Following harvest and sorting, grapes are treated to a temperature controlled vinification in clean fermenters to create a fresh, fruit forward style with fine mousse and clean finish. Alcohol 12.0%

Pale straw with green hues, a fine and persistent bead. Fresh apple aromas, gingerbread, lemon curd and hints of yeast. Fresh and lively with luscious stonefruit and biscuit characters, some mid palate sweetness complemented by a creamy mousse and crisp, clean finish. Aromatic, balanced and revitalizing, a superb aperitif style that drinks well alongside canapes, smoked seafood or chicken caesar.
