There are four tiny patches of vine at Scotchman's Hill, which have been mollycoddled by Robin Brockett, since the start of his tenure as chief winemaker in the 1980s. Excruciatingly limited after a strict pruning and rigorous sorting of fruit, they each yield a mere hundred cases of wine. Brockett has set aside the precious harvests of these superior blocks for his own label, a personal project to hand craft the finest of vintage, an exclusive range of the Bellarine's most elite single vineyard efforts. So besotted is Brockett by the spectacular quality of fruit from these four regal parcels, he has imported two 800 Litre Tuscan vinification Amphora from the Brunello commune of Montalcino. Whole bunches and wild ferments in the like of ancient clay urns, hand plunged in the old world way, appreciatively unfiltered for a tasteful measure of sauvage. Aficianados of small batch, limited release endeavours by Australian winemaking luminaries, are quietly advised to indulge their appetence and secure a case of Robin Brockett Pinot Noir, Syrah and/or Shiraz... Clairault
Established in 1976, Clairault is one of the pioneering vineyard winery estates in Margaret River

Margaret River is a region of striking natural beauty which has become one of the world's most renowned premium wine producing regions and tourism destinations. Its rich terroir, Mediterranean climate and close proximity to the cooling influences of the Indian and Great Southern oceans ensure consistent vintages and the creation of exceptional quality wines. Clairault's pristine undulating property with bountiful creek lines, natural springs and some of the oldest native forests in the south west, make it truly unique. Its history, pedigree and forward thinking approach has established Clairault’s fast growing reputation as a serious player in Margaret River. This, along with outstanding winemaking skills has helped create wines that are truly distinctive to Clairault's vineyard.

Clairault

Owned and operated by the Martin Family, Clairault is a wine grower dedicated to nurture an appreciation of quality that is enjoyable and life enhancing, an aspiration which underpins their approach to all they do and how they relate. Biological farming is the passion, a mix of organic and conventional farming techniques that place a strong emphasis on soil biology. These techniques result in high quality crops, while using significantly less herbicide, no insecticides and no synthetic fertilisers. The biological farming, sustainable and low intervention techniques ensure that only the purest of fruit is produced, thus achieving optimum flavour. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon are the dominant varietals grown on the estate and have proved worthy time and again.

The 230 hectare property contains four dams, approximately 85 hectares of remnant bushland, 40 hectares of grazing land and the upper reaches of the Gunyalgup, Quininup and Big Brook which joins the Wilyabrup Brook. The remnant bushland comprises jarrah, marri and banksia open forest with small areas of peppermint closed forest found near the creek lines.

Clairault strive to create a living heritage of wines that reflect the uniqueness of terroir, wines that are consistent in quality, well balanced, of distinct and lasting elegance, and which express purity of fruit. This approach, combined with minimal intervention winemaking practices and exceptional quality estate grown grapes, achieves the best wine Clairault has to offer.
