Black Chook Viognier Marsanne Roussanne 2008

Black Chook is a collaboration between winemaking maestro Ben Riggs and Tony Parkinson, proprietor of the salubrious Penny's Hill. A mostly Viognier wine with further components of Marsanne and Roussanne, VMR saw McLaren Vale Marsanne and Roussanne crushed and vinified together. Meanwhile, the Viognier was made ready whilst fermenting quite alone in a separate vessel. The result is a seamless integration of fruit, a triumph in aromatics, a wine that presents a delicious, refreshing and flavoursome palate

dArenberg Money Spider Roussanne 2007

In the belief that three white varietals of Rhone origin would have the same affinity for the soils and climate of McLaren Vale as their red counterparts, dArenberg planted the region's first Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne in the mid 1990s. The first small crop of Roussanne was harvested and held in a shed for an hour while the crusher was being prepared. A sea of tiny money spiders (Erigoninae) crawled to the top of the load and started furiously spinning a cover of webs. "It’s fat and juicy, and immediately satisfying!" -Adelaide Advertiser

Tallarook Roussanne

Tallarook vineyards are situated on the northern slopes of the Great Dividing Ranges in Central Victoria. Originally planted in the mid eighties, some of the estate's sites have been specialized to grow Rhone varietals such as the esoteric Rousanne, winning much recognition and acclaim for Tallarook. "Light straw-green; another very complex wine with a range of winemaking inputs, yet quite restrained and with very good structure; there is a minerally substrate to spicy pear, honeyed stone fruit and citrus!" -Winecompanion.com.au

Terra Felix Marsanne Roussanne

Mostly a Marsanne Cuvée with a smaller proportion of Roussanne, the only white varietals allowed in France's northern Rhône appellations. Traditionally mated together, they produce a flavoursome white for those who like to experience a challenging and robust palate, preferably to the accompaniement of fine food. "Each grape can make fragrant yet satisfying textural wine on it's own, but putting the two together seems to highlight the other's honeysuckle aromatics, spiciness and tongue coating fullness!" -Gourmet Traveller
