Johann Gottfried Scholz served in the Prussian army as a battlefield bonesetter, before joining the great emigration of Lutherans from Silesia to Barossa Valley. After building a family homestead along the alluvial banks of Para River, Gottfried established a mixed farm of livestock and crops, fruit trees and grapevines, Semillon and Shiraz. His acumen at healing fractures and setting splints made Gottfried a leading local identity, as his homestead cottage evolved into the Barossa's very first private hospital. Over a century later, the exceptional quality of harvest from Gottfried's original homestead, made the fruit of Willows Vineyard, an essential component in the most memorable vintages of Peter.. Gary and Nick Farr are father and son, they make wine together but aren't afraid to go head to head when their opinions differ. Nick grew up amongst some of the world's most sacred vineyards, he knows about the land and found a magnificent little site, barely east of Lake Colac. Irrewarra is the vigneron's shangri-la, prepared for viticulture by generations of grazing and eons of the sobering south sea breezes, which stimulate vines to yield meagre harvests of parched little grapes, sleek of tannin and rich in flavour. Vintaged in excruciatingly limited lots, there are fully two styles of Irrewarra on offer, a grapefruit and oyster shell Chardonnay, a Pinot Noir of pasture and of place, both finished to.. Established 1851 by the French Marist order, Mission Estate are New Zealand's oldest winery, under continuous management ever since. The city of Lyon's Society of Mary sailed to New Zealand with little more than faith, fair winds and a few healthy vines. Men of Burgundy, they knew from good wine, they chose their ground and planted rootstock near Ngaruroro River between Napier and Hastings at Pakowhai. Agriculture and livestock were a necessity, but the establishment of a productive vineyard was essential. The area is now known as Hawke's Bay, internationally renowned for the rich terroirs of Gimblett Gravels, home of New Zealand's most salient brands... The burgundy tradition of te ika a maui»
Planted to the tranquil Shangri-La of a sun warmed slope in Yarra Valley, TarraWarra was established 1983 by the founders of the Sussan and Sportsgirl brands. Philanthropists and patrons of the arts, Mr and Mrs Besen, AO and AO respectively, took a highly aesthetic approach to the pursuit of viticulture. Healthy soils and happy fauna were the means to an end, good wine comes from a sound ecology, but great wine needs the inspiration of a holistic engagement with the arts. It is here at Healesville that habitues can savour the Sauvignon while immersing themselves amongst the work of our national masters. A costly collection of canvas by our merry Messrs Boyd and Whiteley, Drysdale, Brack and Pugh,.. Take the trek to tarrawarra»

Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame CONFIRM VINTAGE

Chardonnay Pinot Noir Champagne Ay France
This exceptional wine is dominated by components of Pinot Noir from the Grands Crus at Ay, Vallee de la Marne, Verzenay and Verzy, Ambonnay and Bouzy in the Montagne de Reims. The cuvee includes a smaller component of Chardonnay from three Grands Crus along the Cote des Blancs, Avize, Ogerand and Le Mesnil-sur-Ogerin. A wine which heightens the sensory perceptions, La Grande Dame is the quintessence of the Veuve Clicquot style, drawing it's magnificence through a dominance of Pinot Noir.
Consolidating the Bouzy properties of her late husband, Madame Clicquot gradually built up the estate holdings through a driving determination to establish the leading marque in Champagne. The Clicquot vineyards today cover over five hundred hectares. These precious assets are spread through the very finest growths, 12 out of a total 17 Champagne Grands Crus and 19 of Champagne's 44 Premiers Crus. The vineyards boast an exceptional average classification of close to 97%, a ranking that is based on the winegrowing properties of the terroir and the quality of fruit. The vines are mostly planted to hillsides where soils are shallowest and exposure to the sun is optimal.
Luminous, sparkling gold hue, amber highlights, fine effervescence within a light bead. Initial mineral nose, white peaches and bergamot, a remarkable intensity. The bouquet develops voluptuous hints of brioche, nougats and apricot, vanilla, frangipane and jasmine. A palate great substance, chalky minerality resonates magnificently. An etude of Verzenay/Avize fruit, the two dominant Crus in this blend of eight.
