The small yields translate into extraordinary, full bodied and concentrated wines, with fine aromatics and silky tannins. Local folklore has it that a shepherd discovered gold at Daisy Hill in 1848, the region flourished, and suitable parcels were planted to vines in the 1850s. Named after the first cultivator of the site, Samuel Dunn, who lived in Amherst from the early 1850s, one of the first local settlers to plant grapes. Originally the land was exploited for sheep grazing, until diggers found the locality alive with gold. Today the property yields a tremendous Shiraz wine.
