Ken Helm A.M. received the Order of Australia for his work with Riesling, for his contribution to the Australian wine industry, for his support of cool climate wine producers and service to the Canberra community. Helm placed the Canberra region firmly on the map for world class wines after his inaugural 1977 release won significant international accolades. There are four tiny patches of vine at Scotchman's Hill, which have been mollycoddled by Robin Brockett, since the start of his tenure as chief winemaker in the 1980s. Excruciatingly limited after a strict pruning and rigorous sorting of fruit, they each yield a mere hundred cases of wine. Brockett has set aside the precious harvests of these superior blocks for his own label, a personal project to hand craft the finest of vintage, an exclusive range of the Bellarine's most elite single vineyard efforts. So besotted is Brockett by the spectacular quality of fruit from these four regal parcels, he has imported two 800 Litre Tuscan vinification Amphora from the.. Brockett begets the best of bellarine»
Sandro Mosele is one of Victoria's most accomplished vignerons, his celebrated editions of Kooyong and Port Phillip estates are amongst the most cherished renderings of Burgundy styled Pinot Noir in the nation. Mosele has applied his art to a precious parcel of fruit, picked off a single, modest block of vine, grown to the fully fertile soils of a lamb and beef stud, on the brisk, maritime blown coastals of Gippsland South. This is not Pinot for profit, Walkerville represents an aesthetic appreciation of fruit from the farmer, invigorated by the blessings of providence and consecrations of local livestock. A cornucopia of comely characters, forcemeats and.. The grazier's garden of gippsland»
Samuel Smith migrated from Dorset England to Angaston in the colony of South Australia circa 1847, he took up work as a gardener with George Fife Angas, the virtual founder of the colony. In 1849, Smith bought thirty acres and planted vines by moonlight, the first ever vintages of Yalumba. One of his most enduring legacies were some unique clones of Shiraz, which were ultimately sown to the illustrious Mount Edelstone vineyard in 1912. Angas's great grandchild Ron Angas acquired cuttings from the Edelstone site and migrated the precious plantings to his pastures at Hutton Vale. The land remains in family hands, a graze for flocks of some highly fortunate.. The return of rootstock to garden of eden»

Rutherglen has a tradition of producing red wines of controlled power and solid structure with an equal measure of finesse. It remains one of Australia's leading winegrowing regions and is renowned throughout the world for its peerless fortifieds. Shiraz is sourced from choice Rutherglen vineyards managed by one of the region's most accomplished viticultural teams. Fruit is crushed and sent for a term of cold soak. Batches are treated to vinification in traditional open fermentation vats, hand plunged and pumped over for optimal extraction of colour, flavour and tannin. Upon completion of ferments, components are filled to oak for a course of malolactic and extended maturation.
Deep crimson. Aromas of berry fruits with a whiff of sweet oak, hints of plum, licorice and lithe cherry spice. Mouthfilling flavours of loganberry and plum, brambles and dark jube seasoned by a touch of choco vanilla oak. Tannins are distinct, supportive and in fine balance, a touch of dryness on the lingering, warming and aromatic finish.
