Somewhere near the Seaview end of McLaren Vale's Chapel Hill Road, a perfunctory passerine perched her pincers astride a pair of power poles and saw herself alit. Down she went amongst the dry grown branches of an old Grenache vineyard, setting the valuable veterans ablaze. The scorched site eventually came to the attention of a winemaking trio, the Messrs Leske, Tynan & Cooke, Masters of Wine and a venerable vintner, all driven by a consuming passion to make greater Grenache. Thistledown vintage very small amounts of the most extraordinary Grenache. Beautifully detailed and conspicuously elegant, their floral bouquets and graceful finish emulate the aromatic.. W. J. Seabrook & Son have been a part of the Australian wine industry since 1878. Many an ancient storefront, right across the country, are still emblazoned with the family label. Fifth generation vigneron Hamish Seabrook drew inspiration from time well spent at other illustrious estates, establishing his own personal repute as a distinguished winemaker during tours of duty at Bests Great Western, Brown Brothers Milawa and the Barossa's exalted Dorrien. A key to the long lived excellence of the Seabrook trademark has been a canny selection of exceptional vineyards fruit. Hamish hand chooses his harvests from the finest vineyards in the land, just as his.. Salutations to seabrook»
By those wonderful folks who bring us Shaw & Smith. Tolpuddle was planted to vine in 1988, on a highly precious site along Back Tea Tree Road, just outside of Hobart. The inaugural vintage claimed Tasmanian Vineyard of Year in 2006. The illustrious Messrs Martin Shaw and Michael Hill Smith acquired the property in 2011, with a view to elevating the excruciatingly limited release Tolpuddle to the status of a national Grand Cru. A singular experience in new world Pinot Noir, Tolpuddle unravels endless layers of pastoral complexity, powerfully structured yet elegant, immaculate and poised... Planted to the tranquil Shangri-La of a sun warmed slope in Yarra Valley, TarraWarra was established 1983 by the founders of the Sussan and Sportsgirl brands. Philanthropists and patrons of the arts, Mr and Mrs Besen, AO and AO respectively, took a highly aesthetic approach to the pursuit of viticulture. Healthy soils and happy fauna were the means to an end, good wine comes from a sound ecology, but great wine needs the inspiration of a holistic engagement with the arts. It is here at Healesville that habitues can savour the Sauvignon while immersing themselves amongst the work of our national masters. A costly collection of canvas by our merry Messrs Boyd.. Chateau Des Tours 2005 - Buy
Semillon Sauvignon Blanc Bordeaux France
Château Des Tours is the second wine of the famous Château Loubens, flagship of the Sainte-Croix-Du-Mont appellation, which is carefully run by M. Arnaud de Seze, one of the best properties of the Sainte Croix du Mont appellation. Sainte-Croix-du-Mont is an important sweet white wine appellation on the right bank of the Garonne whose wines, at their best, bear a striking resemblance to those made across the river in Sauternes. Beautifully fruited in its youth, Château Des Tours is very elegant. Concentrated and rich, it can age many years.
Mostly Semillon with about five percent Sauvignon Blanc grown to vines averaging forty years of age planted to chalky clay soils. A maximum yield of 40 hL/ha is imposed by the INAO (National Institute of Appellations of Controlled Origin). The vines often produce yields below this limit because the grapes tend to wither when they are over ripened. The harvest is done entirely by hand with several selective pickings for the collection of only those botrytised grapes which have a high concentration of sugar. The grapes are pressed and the must is put into cement vats where the alcoholic fermentation starts. After the addition of pure alcohol, the wine is aged in vats, completely unoaked, for six months.
A viscous wine, deep yellow in colour. A wine of sensible richness and ample botrytis, scents of pineapple and banana, Galliano and lemon liqueurs. An immeasurably lengthy palate of candied citrus and cumquat peel, tarte tatin, peach leaf ratafia and sugared almond. A finish saturated with long lasting characters and the tang of cleansing, fruit laden acids, memorable, complex and lingering.
