Gary and Nick Farr are father and son, they make wine together but aren't afraid to go head to head when their opinions differ. Nick grew up amongst some of the world's most sacred vineyards, he knows about the land and found a magnificent little site, barely east of Lake Colac. Irrewarra is the vigneron's shangri-la, prepared for viticulture by generations of grazing and eons of the sobering south sea breezes, which stimulate vines to yield meagre harvests of parched little grapes, sleek of tannin and rich in flavour. Vintaged in excruciatingly limited lots, there are fully two styles of Irrewarra on offer, a grapefruit and oyster shell Chardonnay, a Pinot.. It's irrewarra by farr»
Lindsay McCall's enthusiasm for great wine began in the 1970s, he established his first Mornington plantings in 1985 on the site of a derelict orchard at Red Hill along Paringa Road. From day one, McCall focused on exactingly managing the soils and the vines, after completing his day job as local school teacher. His affinity for the land and astonishing feel for winemaking produced monumental vintages of Pinot Noir, which propelled the exquisite range of Paringa Estate wines to international renown. Yal Yal Rd Mornington Pinot Gris 2013 CONFIRM 2013 VINTAGE

Pinot Gris Grigio Mornington Victoria
Sandro Mosele is one of Victoria's most eminent winemakers, a maestro of Mornington and craftsman behind the success of the highly prestigious Kooyong and Port Phillip estates. To Moselle, winemaking is as much a science as it is art, endeavouring to maintain the balance of ecosystem and respecting the divine nature of terroir. Moselle has an eye for the land, he's applied his efforts to the fruit of a picturesque, boutique vineyard located at Merricks on the Peninsula, an auspiciously positioned site which yields a singular quality of Pinot Gris.
The characterful Pinot Gris has taken very well to the balmy maritime climes of Mornington. Yal Yal Estate work towards the goal of creating wines which can articulate the natural endowments of their vineyard, conspicuous wines showing great presence of varietal fruit, offering great length and fine minerality. Owning and operating a boutique vineyard means working amongst the vines, pruning by hand through the cold winter months, chasing birds out from the nets over summer and tipping harvest buckets full of delicious fruit into the back of a tractor. Parcels of Pinot Gris are whole bunch pressed, barrel fermented and treated to nine months on sedimentery yeast lees in a selection of fine French oak barrels.
Peach yellow hue. Cashew nutty nose, tinned pear, vanilla clove and lithe spice. A lively and bright palate of spiced fruits, pear and grapefruit flavours, bound by excellent acidity and suported by crisp minerality. Richly textured, generous and long, match to marinated and blackened quail or pork loins with pinenuts and morel.

Yal Yal
Yal Yal Estate is a picturesque, boutique estate vineyard, planted to some spectacular terroirs on Mornington Peninsula

Yal Yal vineyard is tucked away into the valley amongst the rolling hills of Merricks. Only a five minute drive to the beach, the property gently slopes down the hill and abuts twenty acres of untrammeled bush, which is largely impenetrable and full of native animals and bird life. The vineyard resounds with the sounds of kookaburra's calling and koala's seeking their mates. An old wallaby can often be found at dusk hopping between the vines. Working closely alongside renowned winemaker Sandro Mosele, Liz and Simon Gillies launched the Yal Yal Road label in 2010.

A year in the vineyard is an exciting and romantic journey, sometimes demanding, but always a rich and rewarding experience. Working amongst the vines through the seasons is an experience to be savored. Whether it be pruning through the cold winter months, waiting for bud burst in spring, watching verasion unfold as birds are chased out from the nets over summer, or best of all, tipping harvest buckets full of delicious fruit into the back of the tractor in early autumn, it is a journey that the people of Yal Yal want to share with you.

Nestled between Westernport and Port Phillip Bays, fronting the grandeur of tempestuous Bass Strait, Mornington's unique cool maritime climes create the perfect place to grow grapes and make good wine. The hills and beachscapes around Yal Yal are populated with the most wonderful vineyards.

Originally planted in 1997, the Yal Yal property has been trained since establishment to focus on low yielding, single vineyard Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines which can reflect the unique character of Yal Yal's terroir. Prior to the inaugural 2009 vintage, the Yal Yal harvests were sold to distinguished Mornington wineries. In 2009, the pick of the Yal Yal crop was set aside for the first Yal Yal Rd Chardonnay.

Released to resounding critical acclaim, Yal Yal Rd's first edition of Chardonnay sold out in six months. Crafted by the eminent Mornington specialist Sandro Mosele, Yal Yal's crop of Pinot Noir received a breathtaking 94 points from gentleman James Halliday, it sold out within three months.
