Jack Mann reigns eternal as the greatest winemaker in the history of the Australian west. Jack Mann's son Tony grew up amongst the vineyards of Houghton but took a keener interest in things Cricket. He exelled at both pursuits but is best remembered as the legendary leg spinner Tony Rocket Mann. During his off seasons away from the pitch, Tony would plant parcels of vine alongside his illustruious father Jack and his own young son Robert. The fully grown Robert now makes his own wine, from fruit of the very vines sown by Jack and Tony Mann. Robert learned from his grandfather that great winemaking required a spiritual oneness with nature. The birds and the.. Whence the west was won»
The story of Langmeil begins with early Barossa settlement, planted to Shiraz by Christian Auricht in the 1840s, the estate vineyards were restored by the Lindner and Bitter families during the 1990s. Some of Herr Auricht's original plantings are still in production, three and a half priceless acres of gnarled, dry grown vines which provided the cuttings for much of Langmeil's refurbished heirloom parcels. A princely range of old, to very old single vineyard wines, delineated by the eloquence of each unique site, defined by the provenance of history and pioneer folklore. Saved from the ravages of time by the hand of providence and generations of dedicated.. The legacy landscapes of langmeil»
Grown to the frigid climes of Central Otago, the vines at Prophet's Rock were established 1999 to the most auspicious sites in the nether regions around the ancient goldfields of Bendigo Creek. Challenging aspects with breathtaking views of Cromwell Basin and Pisa Ranges, these are places defined by their fortuitous soils and favourable climes, tiny parcels of vine capable of just a few hundred cases each vintage, picked for their confluence of growing conditions and husbanded by a devout cadre. The winemaking is decidedly French, small vessels and wild yeasts, followed by an extended term on sedimentary lees for opulence. Invigorated by the warmth of alluvial.. Bounty of bendigo goldfields»
Right next to the Merry Widow Inn at Glenrowan, infamous of Kelly gang folklore, Richard Bailey set up shop to service prospectors during the great Victorian gold rush of the 1860s. Rows of newly planted Shiraz soon followed and the Baileys released their first vintage in 1870. The region was ultimately infected by the terrible vine killing plague of the 1890s, a guarded blessing for Glenrowan, which elevated the quarantine status of its vitiated vineyards to a marque of the highest provenance. Baileys endure as one of the new world's most arcane and mythical wineworks, a small estate of historically significant parcels, producing limited vintages, defined by.. The bushranger's brew»

Il Pino del Biserno IGT - Buy
Cabernet Sauvignon Cabernet Franc Merlot Petit Verdot Tuscany Italy
Tenuta di Biserno is in western Tuscany, along the Upper Maremma, among the hills of Bibbona, bordering the DOC Bolgheri. The vineyards of Bibbona and Bolgheri relate to each other very much in the manner of Saint Emilion and Pomerol. A statuesque cepage of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot, Il Pino di Biserno is the second growth of Tenuta Biserno.
The vines at Tenuta di Biserno are grown to some very special soils, complex silts, alluvial sands, a high percentage of clay and a conglomerate rich in minerals, recognizable upon tasting the wines. As with the established practices of neighboring Bolgheri DOC, Bordeaux varietals were planted with a view to exploiting the unique soils which are very akin to those found in the Medoc. Fruit is vinified for three to four weeks at 28C, followed by a course of malolactic in a combination of barrels and tank. The wines are matured twelve months in a selection of prior use French oak barriques and vats, assembled, bottled and aged for another six months before release.
Intense, bright ruby red. Ripe, soft fruit aromatics, spicy notes, eucalyptus and Mediterranean maquis. A fruit filled palate, ripe acids and supple oak are supported by fine, ripe tannins before a long, elegant finish. The relatively high percentage of Petit Verdot has surprised many wine professionals for it's contribution to the overall structure and balance.
