Just outside the Gippsland town of Leongatha, a few minutes down the road from the hallowed grounds at Bass Phillip estate, ten precious acres of exceptional terroir were planted in 1990, to artisanal clones of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah. The propitious easterly aspects make the most of morning sun, an auspicious bequeath of fertile Ferrosols oblige the rootstock and infuse the fruit, while reducing the vigor and rationing the harvest. Lucinda Estate was never established as a producer of scale, its scant yields were always destined to be in pursuit of stunning Syrah and the perfect Pinot. There are fewer than twenty hectares of Stefano Lubiana vines, overlooking the spectacular tidal estuary of Derwent River. Chosen for its felicitious winegrowing aspects, it is a place of scrupulously clean soils, free of any pesticides or manufactured treatments. Insects are welcome here, they are mother nature's endorsement of a holistically biodynamic viticulture. His wines are given full indulgence to make themselves. Ferments lie undisturbed and.. Celestial wines from southern climes»
Xavier Bizot can make wine anywhere he pleases, he is a Bollinger and grew up amongst the Vignobles Superieurs of Champagne. Bizot has chosen to make wine alongside Brian Croser's family, from grapes harvested off three magnificent sites, on two paradoxically varied terrains. Planted to the salubrious Terra rosa soils atop an invaluable archeological dig at Wrattonbully, rich with the undisturbed fossils of ancient Cenozoic sea animals, Crayeres Vineyard was established right across the road from Tapanappa's illustrious Whalebone. The weather here is astonishingly similar to Bordeaux and makes an awesome Cabernet Franc. Xavier Bizot and Lucy Croser are also.. The twin tales of terre a terre»

Amongst the Pol Roger assets are many miles of subterranean chalk caves and two hundred acres of vineyards. Roger also retain some of Epernay's finest growers to meet the international demand. Roger's caves include a sub cellar which maintains a constant 9.5C. This variance of a single degree lower to the upper stratum of caves slows the second fermentation, encouraging a finer mousse. Complex aromas that typify this style of wine result from a painstaking process of storage and agitation in a unique cellaring tradition. Cuvee Vintage Brut is allowed to slowly and quietly mature, treated to an extended rest within it's own bottle, upon it's own sediment, before degorgement et doseage.
Golden hues, expansive mousse. Brioche and butter notes, autolysis and yeast, baguette and fresh roast nuts. Textural mouthfeel leaps onto the tongue, an immense palate, primarily of white cherries and apple, reined in by brilliant acids in perfect balance. Engagingly flavourful and highly elegant, savour Pol Roger as the refined effervescence and ebulient sparkle indulges all five senses.
