Major Sir Thomas Mitchell left more than just an invaluable bequeth of our nation's most detailed frontier maps. Mitchell distinguished himself in Wellington's army during the Napoleonic wars in the renowned 95th Baker Rifles. A gifted draftsman, he found his way to the nascent colonies of Australia, where his acumen at mapmaking won him the office of Surveyor General. Midleton Very Rare is one of the most exclusive Whiskeys ever produced in Ireland. Exclusively matured in American oak barrels, Midleton is only available in strictly limited quantities as only a small number of casks are personally selected by the Master Distiller each year. An annual edition has been released every year since 1984, thusly very collectable, each bottle is individually numbered and bears the signature of the Master Distiller as a final guarantee of outstanding quality.
Midleton Very Rare varies from year to year. Always elegant and refined, but also unique and individual according to the influences of the season, ingredients and handling. Midleton employ indigenous Irish grown barley, local peats and the fresh waters of County Cork. The distilling process is inimitable and arcane, followed by an extended maturation in hand selected American oak barrels seasoned by years of holding stocks of ageing Bourbon Whisky
