The distinctive character of Glenfarclas Highland Malt, for which only three essential ingredients are required, pure spring water, malted barley and yeast, is due to the Grant family's commitment to traditional distillation methods, combined with the unique size and shape of the Glenfarclas copper pot stills, the select oak casks and, system of storage and location of the warehouses. Chairman's Reserve is a vatting of four casks from the 1960s, selected by the Chairman of Glenfarclas, to mark the 175th Anniversary. An extremely limited edition of a thousand dozen.
A lovely dark mahogany colour. Big sherried nose, mellows after two or three minutes in the glass, malty tones apparent ever so lightly. Fresh surface giving way to blackcurrants, honey, toffee and butterscotch, all underlined by rich, sweet, dry olorosso sherry. A dry whisky initially letting way for bitter dark chocolate, the taste of chocolate goes on for some time then a lovely cream brulee finish.
