Gordon MacPhail Benromach Sassicaia Cask Malt 700ml CONFIRM AVAILABILITY

Scotch Whisky
Benromach was the first distillery anywhere in the world to introduce a Sassicaia cask finish. Benromach import seasoned oak barrels which have been used in the ageing of Tuscany most prestigious red wine, the stately Sassicaia of Bolgheri. After an initial term of maturation in a selection of first fill Bourbon and Sherry casks, Benromach Malt is transferred to Sassicaia wine casks for twenty nine months, achieving a unique style of rose hued Malt that's, redolent of seet red berry characters and candied, malty notes.
James Gordon and John Alexander MacPhail established a Family Grocers, Tea, Wine & Spirit Merchants at Elgin in 1895. They sourced Whisky from local distilleries, specialising in single Malts and bottling under license for famous distilleries such as Macallan and Glenlivet, Glen Grant, Linkwood and Mortlach. Their single Malts and house blends were almost always filled into Spanish Sherry casks, to be matured for much longer than was customary at the time. Gordon & MacPhail acquired Benromach in 1993, after an extensive refurbishment, the ancient Distillery was officially re opened by the Prince of Wales in 1998.
Deep golden ruby hue. A subtle smokiness on the bouquet, sweet toffee and marshmallow notes, followed by hints of red berry. Fresh and peaty with malty aromas, hints of cocoa powder and summer fruits, herbal elements. Initially very peppery, medium bodied palate, rich and creamy, toffee notes, followed by a slight saltiness before a lingering smokiness.
