Trentham Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2010

Awash with ripe acids and good varietal definitionan, a texture like a tropical fruit Frappé. Lime and gooseberry, lychee and guava characters in a well balanced wine with good weight, clean and fresh, before a long passionfruit finish. Such an easy to enjoy, refreshingly crisp dry white, in that fabulous quenching style which Murray Valley fruit is so successful at achieving.

Trentham has three separate vineyards of Sauvignon Blanc, an older site planted in the early 1990s and two younger blocks of select clonal stock. The older site is low yielding, producing wines with more body. The younger vineyards produce wines with more varietal lift and definition. Vintage is determined by ripeness, healthy acids and the desired levels of baume. Immediately following the harvest, grapes are destemmed and crushed. The must (crushed grapes) are chilled and placed into the press for cold settling. The clarified juices are cold fermented with a select yeast over a three week period. Following which, the finished wine is allowed to settle before racking and a final assemblage. Alcohol 13.0%

Light straw in colour. Bouquets that are lively and fresh, lifted aromas complemented by an electrifyingly, zingy palate. Blending from different vineyards of varying ripeness has produced a complex wine with an attractive array of highlights, dry flintiness and light herbaceous hints, through to the more robust and tropical passionfruit and lychee characters. The depth of palate is superb, exhibiting distinctive flavours and a rich mouthfeel. Essentially a dry and extremely refreshing white wine, a super accompaniment to crustacea, hors d'ourves or patè. This style is best at its youth, to fully enjoy the fresh fruit flavours, serve reasonably well chilled, and enjoy the sensational fruit of this eminently appealing wine.

The La Famiglia range of wines is all about fine tuning the classic Italians into a contemporary Australian styling. A profound rendering of Nebbiolo, the unique varietal grape most responsible for the lovely wines of Piedmonte, sumptuous, dry and nicely spiced. An intriguing nose with hints of rose petal, leather and tar for which Nebbiolo is renowned, but primarily a wine driven by red and black berry fruit flavours and aromas.

Trentham Estate La Famiglia Pinot Grigio 2012

The Murphys were amongst the first settlers to establish vineyards around Mildura. The family moved to Trentham Cliffs in 1960 and re-developed a site which was part of a larger sheep station, irrigated by the nearby Murray River. The first vintages were destined for fortified wines, as was the dictate of the times. Blocks were later planted to Pinot Grigio, which performed brilliantly in the rich red loam over limestone soils.
