Shiraz Barossa McLaren Adelaide Padthaway South Australia
Despite a difficult vintage, rigorous selection of intensely flavoured grapes from mature vines in some of the finest vineyards produced a wine that exceeded vintage expectations.
Grange has maintained its place as Australia's most prestigious red wine over four decades. Today, it is a wine of international renown, with each vintage eagerly awaited by collectors both in Australia and overseas. Grange is a wine of extraordinary dimension and power. Richly textured, intensely concentrated and packed with fruit sweetness, these wines, regardless of vintage, require medium to long-term cellaring. They develop into immensely complex, beguiling wines that seduce the senses. Vintage 1995 is assembled from batches of fruit grown to the Barossa and McLaren Vale, the Magill Estate and Padthaway. Maturation for seventeen months in 100% cent new American oak hogsheads. Alcohol 13.50%
Winemaker comments by John Duval: Deep red. Complex with masses of concentrated plum, raspberry and blackberry fruit aromas and hints of leather, dark chocolate and spice. Displaying all the classic hallmarks one would expect of Grange, this is a full-bodied, richly flavoured wine with ripe, dark stewed fruits and mixed spices with seamless, perfectly integrated oak and chewy tannins.
