As fifth generation of a great winemaking and grape growing dynasty that has been part of the Barossa since 1855, Grant Burge's commitment is absolute. Burge manages his vineyards to yield fruit of the most exacting standards. Chardonnay is sourced from the Barossa Valley, Adelaide Hills and Riverland. Grapes are crushed and cold settled before fermentation. Juices are racked off and inoculated, treated to a cool vinification in tank for several weeks. Completely unwooded, components are treated to malolactic and ageing on yeast lees to achieve complexity, mouthfeel and fine textures. Following settling, filtering and stabilising, Benchmark is assembled into the consummate, fruit driven Chardonnay.

Bright gold in colour. Vibrant citrus, floral and tropical fruit aromas. The palate is lean and racy, fine natural acidity lending great length to the citrus flavours, a well rounded palate from time spent on lees. Clean varietal characters and rich textures, offering fine balance and remarkable approachability whilst young. Not your rich and traditional full bodied style of Chardonnay, but a more modern rendition best suited to fresh seafood and spicy recipes.
