Kalleske Old Vine Grenache 2007
	Old Vine Grenache grown to a single site, planted in 1935 as bush vines on the Kalleske farm. The vineyard is low yielding with grapes grown organically and biodynamically. These precious gnarled and dry grown old Grenache vines translate into the most spectacular Barossa wine. 	Each $49.99 Dozen $599.88	Unique soils lie beneath this old Grenache site, shallow sands with light clay, the vines are entirely dry grown and yield intensely flavoured fruit. This old vine vineyard provides excellent natural acidity and no further additions are required. Grapes are destemmed into open top fermenters, the must is warmly fermented using native yeast. Ferment temperatures can reach over thirty degrees celsius. Gentle hand pumpovers are carried out twice daily for the flavour and colour extraction. After vinification on skins the must is traditionally basket pressed and filled to barrel. The wine is treated to maturation in seasoned American and French oak hogsheads for up to two years prior to bottling
	A rich red in colour. Lifted aromas of sandalwood and spice, perfume, coffee and fruit cake, all the highlights of outstanding Barossa Grenache. The refined, full bodied palate is mouthfilling with beautiful varietal fruit flavours. Tannins are prominent but well polished, providing a layered structure. Kalleske is well balanced and completed by a long finish. An assemblage of old vines Grenache with Shiraz and Mataro, grown to the Kalleske’s organic farm. Named after Troy Kalleske's ninety year old grandfather Clarence, who farmed the estate vineyards from the late 1920s until his retirement in the 1990s. Clarry was the fourth generation to tend the vines on the family farm, established by his great grandparents who migrated from Prussia to South Australia in 1838 aboard the Prince George. Many years were spent by Clarry pruning, hand picking and nurturing the Kalleske vineyards

Kalleske Florentine Chenin Blanc 2008

A single vineyard Chenin Blanc, sourced from mature vines on the Kalleske farm, wild fermented and partially barrel matured to provide a varietal yet complex wine. It gets its name from Caroline Florentine Kalleske, the first daughter of Johann Georg Kalleske who migrated to Australia from Prussia in 1838. Florentine is a genuine hand crafted wine that’s been grown, vintaged and matured on the Kalleske estate at Greenock in the northwest Barossa. A tribute to Johann Georg, the first Kalleske to migrate to Australia. Johann Georg was born in Brätz, Prussia in 1794 and settled in South Australia with his wife and children in 1838. The Kalleske family have been farming and growing grapes in the Barossa ever since. Kalleske Georg is a genuine estate wine, grown, vintaged and matured on the Kalleske wineworks at Greenock, a single vineyard Shiraz produced from the oldest vineyard on the farm.
