Turkey Flat Shiraz 2006
Planted in 1847, the hard-working gnarled old Turkey Flat vines are still producing fantastic grapes, renowned the world over. They are dry grown with their roots extending metres into the soil in search of moisture. "Twenty percent of the 2006 Shiraz was sourced from vines planted in 1847. It offers aromas of smoke, cedar, bacon, blueberry, and blackberry. This leads to a voluptuous, full-flavored Shiraz with enough structure to evolve. Ripe, sweet, and very lengthy!" -eRobertparker.com, "Varietal shiraz that's rock solid!" -Adelaide Review

Turkey Flat boasts some of the oldest Shiraz vines in the world. The 2006 vintage was mild and long, as the fruit enjoyed a slow long ripening period. The growing season yielded wines that are floral, elegant and well structured. Harvested February to April at healthy levels of 14°- 15°Baumé. Fermented at temperatures of 18° to 30°C, the juices were kept on skins for ten to twenty one days. Cold soaking and extended time on skins has resulted in a firm tannin structure ensuring that this wine can only improve. Turkey Flat underwent a full malolactic in barrel and was treated to twenty three months of lavish maturation under a combination of new and prior use French oak hogsheads. Alcohol 14.5%
Colour is a deep purple. Nose of dark berry fruits, plum, tobacco and black pepper. Earthy, musky and peppery, with meatyness and notes of dark plum with blackberry. Palate that's initially restrained, expressing fruit characters with an underlyng richness. A pleasing length of sweet fruit backed by dark chocolate and oak. Turkey Flat is nothing if not persistent, it's flavours of blackcurrant and plums, dark bitter chocolate and cedar, continue all the way along to the fine grapey tannin finish. "Ripe, dense and chewy, with dried cherry, blackberry and licorice flavors competing for attention with dense tannins that carry it all, along with toasty oak, through a long, chewy finish!" -Winespectator.com
Turkey Flat Cabernet Sauvignon 2006
Turkey Flat Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 - Buy Australian & New Zealand Wines On Line Made from fruit grown on the historic hundred and fifty year old Black Flat Block, this intensely varietal Cabernet is infused with eucalypt from the old gums that grow along the creek bed. "It delivers a perfume of toast, smoke, leather, black currant, and blackberry. This is followed by an intense, rich, full-flavored Cabernet with gobs of spicy black fruit flavors, great depth and concentration, and a long pure finish. It has enough stuffing to evolve for 8-10 years but can be enjoyed now with a 40 day dry-aged prime rib-eye!" -eRobertparker.com

Turkey Flat Mourvedre 2007
Turkey Flat Mourvedre 2007 - Buy Australian & New Zealand Wines On Line Encounters with pure varietal Mourvèdre wine are rare. The origins are almost certainly Spanish where it is called Monastrell, the principal black grape of the five appellations around Spain's southeast and a component of the great growths from the Cotes du Rhone and Chateauneuf du Pape. "Turkey Flat's dedication to this terrific variety continues, once again a shoe-in for the Hot 1OO. Plenty of richness, ripe and lifted, blood plum and pomegranate flavours charm whilst serious moody tannins create edgy impact. Marvellous stuff!" -Adelaide Review

Turkey Flat Shiraz 2007
Turkey Flat Shiraz 2007 - Buy Australian & New Zealand Wines On Line Much of the credit for the best Shiraz made in the Barossa is due to old vines such as Turkey Flat. The fact that these vines still exist is largely due to a far-sighted quarantine scheme, in which South Australia was spared the phylloxera outbreak which devastated the vineyards of Europe, America and subsequently parts of Australia in the late 1800s. Vintage 2007 was mild and long, seeing some of the smallest yields on record. "Turkey Flat has some of the world's oldest Shiraz vines, dating to 1847. Only the best barrels are used!" -Sydney Morning Herald
