Vintage 2006 claimed South Australian Cabernet of the Year at the Advertiser Hyatt Wine Awards and Trophy at the prestigious London International. Already displaying lashings of ripe cassis fruit underpinned by solid structure, vintage 2008 has been treated to tasteful oak maturation with several workings in a selection of the finest oak hogsheads, softening the tannins and filling out the flavour without masking the outstanding quality of fruit Coonawarra
	Each $24.99 Dozen $299.88	Cabernet Sauvignon has been the flagship of Leconfield since the first monumental release in 1977. The aim is to produce a Cabernet wine displaying depth and elegance where oak complexes and enhances the fruit but is not allowed to dominate. Following inoculation to saccharomyces cerevisiae, the majority of components have been barrel fermented in predominantly French oak, while extended skin maceration has contributed to the structure, achieving the well established statuesque Leconfield style. Following completion of malolactic and two months exposure to lees in barrel, Leconfield was aged nineteen months in a combination of new and seasoned French and American oaks. Alcohol 14.5%
	Full rich dense red. Ripe varietal cassis Cabernet fruit with hints of mint overlayed by predominantly French oak which contributes cedar and cinnamon overtones. Leconfield continues to develop all the classic cigar box characters while in bottle. Full flavoured, rich fruit palate with fine long tannins, offering excellent richness which reflects the early warmer vintage while retaining all the elegance expected of Leconfield. An immensely satisfying palate of some intensity and great integration, the long, impressive weight of fruit finishes with a clean acidity. The Coonawarra Cabernet of choice to be savoured in a large glass alongside full flavoured dishes, kangaroo bordelaise and hare estouffade, venison or wild game

Richard Hamilton retains the most outstanding estate vineyards, some of great age, all fully mature. The vines at Hut Block on McMurtrie Road are amongst the oldest in McLaren Vale. Cabernet Sauvignon with a small addition of Cabernet Franc are sourced from four vineyard blocks to the south of the McLaren Vale township.
