Tempranillo Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot Malbec Ribera Del Duero Spain
Vega Sicilia is unquestionably a unique wine, one of the great Spanish classics. It's personality is derived from the quality of fruit, rigour at elevage and uncompromising attention to detail throughout vinification. From a universal perspective, the peculiar characteristics of Unico Cosecha define it as a very Spanish wine, a living national treaure that commands and receives respect at it's very mention. Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Merlot, a complex but profound cepage of great elegance and finesse, with the capacity to evolve for a very long time.
At Vega Sicilia, the oak cask is an essential part of the vinification, forging a true consortium with the wine. In the same way that the grape is an achievement of the vineyard itself, it is essential for Vega Sicilia that most of the casks are coopered at the winery itself. On a section of the estate, Vega Sicilia operates a small cooper's workshop, which not only repairs and reconditions but also makes fresh casks with new American oak. The wood is left to dry for at least three years, two in the open and one under cover. Following it's vinification, Unico Cosecha is matured up to ten years in a combination of seasoned and new, oak casks and large capacity wooden vats.
Solid, intense colour, lively and pleasing appearance with violet hue undertones. Generous and complex, the nose exudes a wide range of fragrances such as coffee and tobacco, lactic and fruits reminiscent of compote. Hints of oak are perfectly integrated. A highly structured palate, opulent, complex and powerful, it offers all the elegance of the finest aged wines while maintaining the liveliness of youth.
