Pèppoli is a wine that's complex and soundly structured, while offering all the vital, mouth filling and aromatic expressions of the Sangiovese grape. The style is made possible through a unique microclimate within the Chianti Classico region. Vines are grown to a valley with particularly favourable growing conditions. Soils are rich in minerals, ideal for the cultivation of Sangiovese, yielding harvests of fruit which are endowed with lovely varietal expressions. Pèppoli is located at the heart of Chianti Classico, fifty five hectares of the most splendid vineyards.

Solaia means the sunny one, an elite ten hectare site within the Antinori estate at Santa Cristina, contiguous to the Tenuta Tignanello vineyard which is on the same property, in the Mercatale Val di Pesa zone of Chianti Classico. Antinori first produced a single vineyard, limited release from these vines in 1978. A wine of massive concentration that's only ever made in the finest years, small adjustments were made to the cépage, arriving at an optimal balance of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with a fifth of Sangiovese and minor portion of Cabernet Franc.

Antinori Tignanello 2008 375ml

The statuesque super Tuscan cépage of Sangiovese, with smaller components of Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc. Tignanello is produced exclusively from a vineyard of the same name, a parcel of some forty seven hectares on limestone soils and a southwestern exposure. It was the first Sangiovese wine to be aged in small oak barrels and the first modern Italian wine to include non traditional varieties such as Cabernet. Pointedly, it was among the first red wines of Chianti Classico to be vinified without the inclusion of white grapes.

Antinori Tignanello 2009

Antinori's Tenuta Tignanello is situated between the Greve and Pesa valleys, between the little villages of Monteridolfi and Santa Maria a Macerata, thirty kilometres south of Florence. The elite Tignanello site grows Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc. An ancient villa on the property dates back to 1346. In the seventeenth century it was owned by a branch of the Medici family, who named it Fonte dei Medici. Acquired by the Antinoris in the mid 1800s, it is now source to one of the most historically significant wines in Chiant Classico.

Antinori Toscana Santa Cristina 2011

One of the oldest winemaking firms in the world, Antinori first commenced production at Tuscany and Florence circa 1385. The majority of Antinori vineyards are located in Chianti Classico. With the passage of the 1984 DOCG laws, Chianti Classico grapes became so complex and rich, that they needed more ageing than the fresh and fruit driven Santa Cristina could bare to maintain it's style and character. Santa Cristina moved away from the Chianti Classico designation, by including components of Cabernet, Merlot and Syrah to the firmness of Sangiovese.

Badia A Passignano Chianti Classico Riserva 2006

One of the oldest winemaking firms in the world, Antinori first commenced producing wines in and around Tuscany and around Florence in 1385. They acquired the prestigious Badia di Passignano vineyards in 1987. The estate Abbey was once home to the founder of the Vallombrosano order and is still owned by the monks, although Antinori make shrewd use of the beautiful cellars. Antinori have since led the resurgence of interest in the elegant Sangiovese of Chianti Classico and contributed significantly to the broader renaissance of Italian wines.

Badia A Passignano Chianti Classico Riserva 2007

Vines up to a thousand years of age have been found very close to the Badia di Passignano wineworks. Literally hundreds of books at the Florence state archive attest to the significance of Badia di Passignano in the history of Chianti. The idyllic limestone slopes rise to an altitude of three hundred metres, one of the most beautiful and productive areas of Chianti Classico. To this day, the focus of the Antinori team on preserving the traditions of viticulture, with the aim of preserving the character which gives Badia di Passignano it's distinctive identity.

Cervaro della Sala 2010

Castello della Sala stands on a rocky promontory on the Umbrian Apennines not far from the border with Tuscany. The castle, surrounded by ancient Etruscan towns midway between Paglia River and the peak of Mt Nibbio, was built in 1350 for Angelo Monaldeschi della Vipera, whose family had come to Italy with Charlemagne in the 9th century.
