Leconfield Coonawarra Cabernet 2010

Leconfield occupies some of the Coonawarra's richest Terra rosa over limestone soils, a composition that's idyllic for superior Cabernet Sauvignon. The aim is to craft a wine endowed with great palate depth and weight of fruit whilst retaining elegance, where oak complexes and enhances the fruit but is not allowed to dominate. Several components of Leconfield complete their fermentations in barrel while the balance is treated to extra time on skins before pressing and filling into the highest quality French oak for an extravagant, extended maturation.

Leconfield Coonawarra Cabernet 2011

Leconfield's highly cherished flagship has been in fine form for years. Vintage 2006 won South Australian Cabernet of the Year at the Advertiser Hyatt Awards and Trophy at the prestigious London International. Vintage 2008 claimed Gold Royal Sydney. Already displaying lashings of ripe cassis fruit underpinned by solid structure, Leconfield has been treated to a tasteful oak maturation with several workings in a selection of the finest oak hogsheads, softening the tannins and filling out the flavour without masking the outstanding quality of fruit.

Leconfield Coonawarra Merlot 2012

Leconfield take aim each year to construct a fragrant, mouth filling Coonawarra Merlot, from grapes infused by the rich terra rosa soils, layered with great depth of flavour and framed by sound structure structure, in which oak plays an important but not prominent role. Significantly, the vines are in their third decade of productivity and yield a distinctly elegant Merlot wine of great sophistication and exquisite balance, suitably swathed in a robe of fine, silky tannins.

Richard Hamilton Hut Block Cabernet 2011

Richard Hamilton maintains the most outstanding estate vineyards, some are of great age, all are fully mature. The vines at Hut Block on McMurtrie Road are amongst the eldest in McLaren Vale. Cabernet Sauvignon with a small addition of Cabernet Franc are sourced from four vineyard blocks to the south of McLaren Vale township. The oldest of the vines, planted in 1968, provide the backbone. Some barrel fermentation has been used to enhance the aroma of the wine. The philosophy being to augment, rather than dominate the fruit with oak.

Leconfield proprietor Dr Richard Hamilton's outstanding estate vineyard in McLaren Vale has delivered a salubrious bounty once again. Richard is the fifth generation of Hamiltons to make wine. For over three decades, the good doctor has directed his passion and skill to extracting the most precious yields from his family vineyards, the oldest of which date back to 1892. Richard Hamilton is crafted to represent a profound definition of varietal fruit, while exhibiting great palate length, as it represents a salient expression of McLaren Vale Shiraz.
