The House of G.H. Mumm, established in 1827, still aspires to the original aims of Georges Hermann Mumm, one of the great patriarchs of Champagne. His passion was to achieve the highest possible quality. Cordon Rouge expresses all the subtle nuances of the Mumm vineyards. The perfect balance between structure and refinement, strength and finesse. And is there a story behind the red ribbon? In the late nineteenth century, Mumm was decorated with the famous Cordon Rouge, as a tribute to France's highest order, La Légion d'Honneur.

Pinot Noir 45%, Pinot Meunier 25% and Chardonnay 30% from Cramant, Avize, Oger, Vertus, Ambonnay, Bouzy, Verzenay, Verzy, Mailly, Vaudemange, Ecueil, Savigny, Avenay, Verneuil and Vandières. Everything is done to capture the excellence of terroir, 218 hectares, of which 160 are classified as Grand Crus. Each is kept separate from the picking until the must reaches the vats. The final assemblage is complemented by a component of reserves from the G.H. Mumm stocks to add maturity and richness. The wine is then bottled for secondary fermentation, followed by maturation under the G.H. Mumm cellars for at least three years before disgorgement and a complex liqueur de dosage. Alcohol 12.5%

A fresh golden yellow with jade tints, an elegant stream of bubbles rising to form a rich, lively foam. The nose develops aromas of lemon and grapefruit, with notes of white peach, apricot and acidulous apple. Lovely intensity of toasted brioche and lemon tart aromas with a waft of red berries. Lingering notes of vanilla, dried fruit and honey. The flavour, complex fresh fruit and caramel characters are hallmarks. A touch of acidity and remarkable length in the mouth before a consistently delightful finish.
