Emily is a wine to be enjoyed at any time and to celebrate any occasion. Emily is the life of any party! The Long Paddock wines honour the ingenuity and courage of the early Australian drovers. Inflicted with cruel and regular droughts, these men and women faced the option of giving up and starving along with their herds, or flinging open their boundary gates to allow their stumbling, starving stock to roam the bush roads and tracks in the desperate hope of finding food and water. This was known as droving the long paddock.

Redbank Long Paddock Chardonnay 2012

Long Paddock is named for the early Australian drovers, inflicted with cruel and regular droughts they faced a long march with their stumbling, starving stock to roam the bush roads and tracks in the desperate hope of finding food and water. Redbank source Chardonnay from some of the best sites in King Valley, an area blessed by slowly ripening, cool climes and rich fertile soils.

Redbank retain some of the best vineyard sites in the higher altitudes of Victoria's bountiful northern winegrowing districts. Cooler climes in the King, Ovens and Alpine Valleys offer slower ripening conditions which translate into the full development of flavours. Long Paddock is fashioned from the best batches of Merlot on offer, the finely grained tannins, gentle palate and aromatic qualities can make any further ageing unnecessary. A forward drinking wine, redolent with plum and cherry characters and like all good Merlot, scrumptuous with fine food.

Redbank keep the folklore of brave local pioneers alive by accessing fruit from vineyards in the high country which gave birth to the nineteenth century tradition of droving the Long Paddock. Through the hard work of growers and the diligence of the Redbank viticultural team, the very healthiest vines have been established and trained to yield parcels of the most gratifying Pinot Gris. A vigorous wine with revitalizingly fresh fruit characters and the exquisite tang of tropical acids, to accompany freshly grilled fishes, dainty nibbles or the finest tasty cheese.

Long Paddock sources the best possible Shiraz from some of the finest vineyards in Victoria's high country, but relies on a few unique sites to form the backbone of fruit. The magnificent fifteen hectare Myrrhee Ridge Vineyard has been supplying Shiraz to Redbank since inaugural vintage. It's an idyllic microclime, positioned well up in the mountain ranges overlooking the King Valley, a cool place to grow wine grapes, yielding fruit that's deeply saturated with colour, bristling with spiced plum and blueberry flavours, endowed by supportive, pliant tannins.

Redbank Sunday Morning Pinot Gris 2012

Esoteric varietal wines grown to higher altitudes reflect the diversity of King Valley. Fruit for the Sunday Morning is harvested off sites grown to elevated, slow ripening mesoclimes, covered by snow in winter and shrouded by cloud at other times of year. Parcels from the Cavedon Vineyard at Whitfield form the wine's vivacious backbone. Grapes are harvested in pristine condititon exhibiting bright aromas and excellent flavours. This articulate Pinot Gris presents poignant nut and floral characters within a structure of fine texture and ripe orchard fruit.

Redbank The Widow Jones Viognier

The merry widow? Ned Kelly and his gang laid siege to the Glenrowan Inn, a small hotel thirty minutes northwest of the King Valley, which was run by Widow Ann Jones. The gang held over sixty people hostage in the hotel. The Widow Jones threw a wonderful party for the bushrangers and their captives. A great night was had by all in what turned out to be Ned's last stand.
