Mojo Barossa Shiraz 2012

Tim Burvill became aware of precious old vineyards dotted around the Barossa Valley while working for some of Australia's most prominent wineries. It is from these wonderfully diverse old sites that Burvill selects the ripest and most concentrated fruit to produce Mojo. Burvill's wines are in keeping with his own personal power packed fruit driven style. The moderately continental Barossa climate provides ideal conditions for the production of full bodied reds. It is these unique growing conditions and the natural sunlight which Burvill captures in Mojo Shiraz.

Mojo Fizz Brut Cuvee

Mojos were mythical charms containing special powers, supernatural amulets which protected from evil or evoked karma. The irony here is that there's nothing metaphysical about the way the Mojo winemaking team create their Fizz, a funky name for a great sparkling. The combination of superb terroir, careful handling of pristine grapes and thoughtful handling achieves a youthfully fruit driven Pinot Chardonnay in contemporary, easy to appreciate styling. Serve chilled and leave the strawberries out, there's enough of that flavour in the wine already.

Mojo Sauvignon Blanc 2012

Sauvignon Blanc thrives in the cool climate and high altitude of the Adelaide Hills, it is here that the true essence of this special grape can be nurtured. The crisp spring and early summer weather preserves the fruit's natural acidity, which heightens and enhances the flavour of this noble variety. To accentuate the fruit freshness, Mojo have treated their Sauvignon Blanc to a cold fermentation which takes up to three weeks, but the result is worth the wait for the winemaker. He suggests serving chilled, but not too cold, at 5pm on a Friday arvo with mates.

Rockbare Barossa Babe Shiraz Gift Boxed 2006

Some of the gnarled and twisted old vines which yield the grapes for Barossa Babe date back to the first days of Barossa settlement in the 1840s, when pioneers replanted their precious cuttings from Europe. Tim Burvill worked at Wynns and Penfolds, where he refined his style alongside some of the best winemakers in the country. Establishing his own label, he embarked upon a secret project to acquire parcels of wayward Barossa Shiraz. With a backbone of fruit grown to some of the oldest sites in Australia, much of Barossa Babe comes from vines up to 140 years of age. The intense power and complexity of the primary fruit flavours are complimented by sweet oak and gripping solid tannins, culminating in a wine of extraordinary complexity and length.

Rockbare are heart, body and soul McLaren Vale. Fruit growers have been experiencing trying times of late. This has freed up some very old and precious Shiraz vineyards, which Rockbare have gleefully accepted into the fold. Tim Burvill is very gifted as a winemaker, and also as a raider of isolate parcels of mature vines. He retains access to some of the Vale's best Shiraz. In the vintages since inaugural release, a number of 50+ year old vineyards have come to light, which have been assembled into an immensely satisfying experience.

RockBare are raiders of precious but wayward sites. An assemblage of old and very old vines Shiraz, the eldest blocks are painstakingly hand harvested. Components display exceptional properties as soon as they are crushed, exhibiting an amazing tannin structure and profound varietal definition throughout the ferment. By any measure, a splendid Old Vines McLaren Shiraz, it is not often that parcels of such high quality are collated and vinified into an opulent yet accessible wine.
