Established 1968 by Word War II flyer Egerton E.S Dennis, on ninety acres of McLaren Flat along the prestigious winegrowing terroirs at Kangarillla Road, the Dennis family pioneered the production of Mead alongside colleague and enthusiast John Maxwell. Josef Chromy OAM escaped from war torn Czechoslovakia as a penniless 19 year old in 1950, he fled across minefields, evading soldiers and killer dogs, ultimately finding a new home in the lucky country. Adam Henkell established himself as a wine merchant in Mainz circa 1832, laying the foundation of today's Henkell & Soehnlein. As early as 1856, Henkell devoted himself to the production of popular sparkling wines.
