The emphasis here is on ageing in seasoned French oak to enhance the fruit, showcasing the velvety nature and sublime cherry, barnyard and rhubarb characters of truly satisfying and memorable Yarra Valley Pinot Noir.

Yarra Yering's Dry Reds are national flagships based around complex varietal blends. Assigning the mercurial cépage of varietal grapes a unique bin number has liberated the winemaker to modify the mix as the styles evolve. The No.2 Dry Red is a perfumed, mostly Shiraz wine, rich and generous, co-fermented with tiny volumes of Viognier and Marsanne for vibrancy, suppleness and an extra dimension to its range of expression. Feminine and seductive, beguiling yet elegant, with long, lingering impressions of violets and eucalypt, cherries and spiced plum.

The year produced rich and generous wines, they show great ageing potential and will be a fitting legacy to the founder of the estate. Gruyere is crafted to be varietally incidental, the actual cépage of fruit is of less importance than the overall structure, balance and presence of the wine. Although it bears the name of its particular sub region of the Yarra Valley, all components are sourced from the distinguished Yarra Yering vineyard.
