Grown to the frigid climes of Central Otago, the vines at Prophet's Rock were established 1999 to the most auspicious sites in the nether regions around the ancient goldfields of Bendigo Creek. Challenging aspects with breathtaking views of Cromwell Basin and Pisa Ranges, these are places defined by their fortuitous soils and favourable climes, tiny parcels of vine capable of just a few hundred cases each vintage, picked for their confluence of growing conditions and husbanded by a devout cadre. The winemaking is decidedly French, small vessels and wild yeasts, followed by an extended term on sedimentary lees for opulence. Invigorated by the warmth of alluvial pebbles and infused by the minerality of.. Bounty of bendigo goldfields»
At latitude 45 degrees south, Central Otago is the southernmost wine region in the world. Snow topped mountains, rocky ranges and dry tussock hills, a place of climatic extremes, bitterly cold winters, parched soils and discouragingly poor fertility. Designed by the angels in heaven for sublime and stupendous vintages of Pinot Noir. At the very epicentre of the most desirable confluence in Central Otago microclimes is Nanny Goat Vineyard. Conspicuous for her serious weight of fruit, splendid structure and chewy, textural palate, Nanny Goat make a magnificently endowed style, offering the understated power and presence to accompany gourmet game sausages, meaty Mediterranean braises or char grilled rib... There's a vineyard at Moorooduc in upper Mornington, planted to a splendid north facing slope which captures the maximum warmth of sunshine each day. Refreshed after nightfall by the invigorating maritime winds off Bass Strait and Port Phillip Bay, it's a place of exceptional winegrowing. Populated by ten unique Burgundy clones, this very special block of vine grew the only Pinot Noir ever to claim our nation's highest accolade for great red wines, the Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy. The property continues to yield limited releases of outstanding vintages, it's a place of exacting viticulture and uncompromising pursuit of excellence, cherished by cognoscenti and exalted by industry press, the vineyard.. Samuel Smith migrated from Dorset England to Angaston in the colony of South Australia circa 1847, he took up work as a gardener with George Fife Angas, the virtual founder of the colony. In 1849, Smith bought thirty acres and planted vines by moonlight, the first ever vintages of Yalumba. One of his most enduring legacies were some unique clones of Shiraz, which were ultimately sown to the illustrious Mount Edelstone vineyard in 1912. Angas's great grandchild Ron Angas acquired cuttings from the Edelstone site and migrated the precious plantings to his pastures at Hutton Vale. The land remains in family hands, a graze for flocks of some highly fortunate lamb. In between the paddocks, blocks of Sam.. The return of rootstock to garden of eden»

Sauvignon Blanc King Valley Victoria
Crafted with fine food in mind, nature has played a big part in contributing to the flavour profile of this crisp and aromatic, decidedly fruit driven wine. Sourced from good growers operating superior vineyards, the focus being to create a Sauvignon Blanc of excellent varietal definition, a lingering palate and lovely clean finish. Minimally handled to retain the vibrancy of fruit character, cooler ripening sites contribute an intensity of flavour. The addition of parcels from earlier ripening blocks imparts balance and length to the finished wine.
The remarkable winegrowing mesoclimes of Victoria's high country are heaven sent for Sauvignon Blanc. It is from these undulating slopes that pioneers produced their first vintages, examples of which found their way to the far reaches of the Empire. Wildly fluctuating terroirs and higher elevations are the key to the finesse and complexity. A maze of valleys and sub-valleys offer slopes of every aspect, there is as much variation here as one can find anywhere. The soils are innately suited to viticulture, such an endowment of choice winegrowing terrain produces some of the most agreeable white wines in Australia, fresh and fragrant, crisp and food friendly with sound structure and crisp fruit characters.
Pale straw in colour with fresh green hues. Lifted aromas of lemongrass and vegetal are complexed by luscious perfumes of gooseberry. Well integrated flavours and great intensity, a palate of intense greenery and crisp nashi are accompanied by the cool climate tang of crabapple acid. Minerality and ripe fruit persist, lemongrass develops along the length of palate, soft and food friendly from start to finish, as it closes toward a clean, refreshing finish. Drinking brilliantly upon release, perfect with creamy chicken dishes, contemporary styles of pasta and the freshest seafood.
