There are four tiny patches of vine at Scotchman's Hill, which have been mollycoddled by Robin Brockett, since the start of his tenure as chief winemaker in the 1980s. Excruciatingly limited after a strict pruning and rigorous sorting of fruit, they each yield a mere hundred cases of wine. Brockett has set aside the precious harvests of these superior blocks for his own label, a personal project to hand craft the finest of vintage, an exclusive range of the Bellarine's most elite single vineyard efforts. So besotted is Brockett by the spectacular quality of fruit from these four regal parcels, he has imported two 800 Litre Tuscan vinification Amphora from the Brunello commune of Montalcino. Moondah Brook Classic Dry White is a wine which shows all the hallmarks and complexity of the enduring West Australian style. Chardonnay brings peach and melon flavours, balanced by the herbaceous, lemon and gooseberry notes of Sauvignon Blanc. Diversity is the key, Moondah Brook retains fine vineyards and sources grapes from good sites throughout Western Australia, a wonderful endowment from which to craft a range of quality wines. The original Moondah Brook vineyard was established in 1968, ninety two hectares of hand chosen viticulture at Gingin, just north of Perth. A confluence of sea breezes in the afternoon and gully winds of an evening, assisted with the reduction in temperatures at ripening, allowing grapes to ripen fully and achieve wines of exemplary varietal character. Parcels that can best represent the classic Australian dry white style are vinified in controlled fermenters and bottled promptly after completion to preserve vitality and freshness.
Light straw with green hues. The bouquet shows refreshing aromas of stonefruits and melon, lemon notes, gooseberry and attractive oriental spice. A fully integrated palate of herbaceousness and orchard fruit flavours, five spice complexity and citrus notes, the mid palate is smooth and mouthfilling, before a gently cleansing finish. A match to scallops and oysters, salt pepper calamari or chicken caesar.

Moondah Brook
The original Moondah Brook Estate was established in 1968, a 92 hectare property located at Gingin, north of Perth

The vineyard was established because of its unique climate. Sea breezes in the afternoon and gully winds of an evening assist with the reduction in temperatures at ripening time, allowing the wines to display great varietal character.

Today, Moondah Brook is a range of varietal wines that reflect this philosophy of allowing the varietal character to shine. Sourced from premium vineyards, the wines are a true expression of Western Australian varieties. Moondah Brook Verdelho has long been recognised as a pioneer wine style, supported by Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc varieties.

Moondah Brook unwooded Chardonnay varietal wine, offers a lively and vibrant alternative to the oaked style while the Rose Cabernet is vibrant and alive with raspberry and lavender. The newest addition to the range is a varietal Merlot from Western Australia.

Premium quality and contemporary labelling, the refreshed branding is recognisable by the distinctive brook, which is colour matched with each variety. Moondah Brook wines are fruit driven with spicy, full-flavoured styles that make them perfect food wines.

Moondah Brook's Rob Bowen is one of Australia's more experienced winemakers with more than 30 years in the industry both as a winemaker and consultant. He has worked for some of WA's best-known wineries including Plantagenet Wines, Capel Vale Wines and most recently, Willow Bridge Estate.

Rob also assists in driving the quality and evolution of the well-known Australian icon brands of Houghton, Jack Mann, Moondah Brook and Crofters.
