The sensational vintages of St John's Road were generations in the making, the fruit of grand old vineyards and the progeny of families which have tilled Barossa soil since early settlement. The landed gentry along St John's Road represent a heritage of the most distinguished names in Australian viticulture, Lehmann and Lienert, Zander, Kalleske and Schutz. With each vintage, they earmark small parcels of the most exceptional Barossa fruit, to be treated to a course of traditional open ferments and term of age in the finest French oak. Bearing such pious Lutheran monikers as Prayer Garden and Resurrection Vineyard, these sacred sites are planted to some of the.. Brought to you by barossa born & bred»

Returning to his home along the Nagambie Lakes after the completion of service during World War II, Eric Purbrick discovered a cache of wine, hidden circa 1876 under the family estate cellars. Though pale in colour, it was sound and drinkable after seven decades. The promise of long lived red wine inspired Purbrick to establish new plantings at Chateau Tahbilk in 1949, today they are some of Victoria's oldest productive Cabernet Sauvignon vines. Having barely scraped through the ravages of phyloxera and a period of disrepute, the fortunes of Tahbilk were turned around by Purbrick who was the first to market Australian wine under its varietal name. Egon Muller Scharzhofberger Auslese 375ml CONFIRM VINTAGE

Riesling Saar Germany
All Egon Muller's editions are Riesling, the family's experience with the varietal dates back to 1797, right around the time of the discovery of Auslese itself. The style is made without any compromise from small parcels of the finest fruit, as harvests of suitably high quality become available. Grapes are hand picked off the ripest bunches, very late in the season from late November until early December.
Weingut Egon Muller makes Riesling and nothing but. Through the influences of nature and nurture, Riesling is a singular variety which has been bred over millennia to lend itself to an almost innumerable permutations of fruit character and fragrance. Egon Muller focuses on collating the most prized parcels from his own vineyards and from the most distinguished growers in the Rhineland. Many of these sites were established by ancient Romans and are grown to rootstock which can be traced back centuries. The most prized clones, planted to the finest blocks which have enjoyed perfect growing conditions, are set aside each year to provide the quality of fruit which can be vinified into the rich and luscious Auslese.
Pale gold hue. White fruit aromas and floral bouquet, citrus, peaches and pear. A rich palate with bright citrus acid balancing the sweetness of fruit flavours. The wine displays stony minerality, hints of acacia and lilac, grilled exotic fruit, sweet stone fruits and bracing acidity all combined in perfect harmony. The finish is very long, with generous, lingering complexity.
