David Wynn introduced cardboard wine casks, flagons and the Airlesflo wine tap to the nation. CASK 929038 Distilled in 1974 and aged in old sherry puncheons until bottling in 2004 when 30 years of age. Nose is of rich chocolate, orange, raisins, custard, sandalwood, cinnamon/cloves, with a hint of woodsmoke. Abundant wood spices on the palate with blackcurrant, softer citrus fruits and a touch of peat. A lingering finish full of fruits and spices. Price can fluctuate and may change without notice. Delivery of the Vintage Macallans may take up to two months or more. Total outturn 527 bottles. Alcohol 56.5% natural cask strength.
All Macallan bottled as a single malt has been aged in oak casks which have held maturing sherry for a number of years in southern Spain. Most of these casks are from oak forests in northern Spain (Galicia), but some American oak casks will also have been utilized to give slightly different flavours and a more delicate, paler colour.
