Major Sir Thomas Mitchell left more than just an invaluable bequeth of our nation's most detailed frontier maps. Mitchell distinguished himself in Wellington's army during the Napoleonic wars in the renowned 95th Baker Rifles. A gifted draftsman, he found his way to the nascent colonies of Australia, where his acumen at mapmaking won him the office of Surveyor General. Marlborough is New Zealand's most productive winegrowing area, located at the top of Island South. The region is renowned far and wide for producing the world's most mouth watering, flavoursome and zesty Sauvignon Blanc wines. It is the recognizable, pungent fruit characters which make Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc a distinctive genre of wine that's identifed internationally. Ta_Ku retain access to some of Marlborough's most bountiful vineyards. Fruit is crushed, the must inoculated to choice yeasts and treated to a temperature controlled vinification. A philosophy of minimal handling allows the wine to preserve the invigorating expressions of essential Marlborough fruit.
